#10P4 Cover work 25/09/12
LO: To understand what makes a good logo.
Main: You need to write a blog post that discusses what makes a good logo. Think about:
- Colour
- Content
- Font
- Images
- Size
Once you have done this, you need to start designing your own healthy take away shop logo on paper. You need to draw several different designs and annotate them with the details listed above.
Plenary: Get feedback on your design from at least 2 people in the class.

Lesson 2
LO: To research and be able to discuss an ICT news story.
LO: To show the ability to create a website for a particular target audience.
Starter - What ICT stories are there in the news at the moment? 5 mins to find as many as you can.
1. Choose a news story and create a Word document of research on the story. You will need to write up your own version of the story. You will need to save images associated with the story also.
2. Using Dreamweaver and the skills you learnt in Year 8, you need to create 2 web pages. One that present the story for adults and one that presents the story to children. Think about the points covered in the previous lesson when deciding upon formatting and content.
3. When saving the web pages, create a new folder in your Sites folder called Web Comparison and save them in there. Make sure you name one Adults.html and the other kids.html.
Plenary - Showcase your web pages to the rest of the class. Can they tell which is aimed at which audience?

9p4/9m4 - Website Comparison Lessons
Lesson 1
LO: To be able to identify how a website's formatting and content targets a particular audience.
This task is to get you thinking about how a website targets a particular audience and is preparation for your course this year.
1. Choose 2 websites, one that targets an adult audience and another that targets children.
2. Write a blog post that COMPARES the formatting and content of both. Use the list below to help you.

How to set up a blog
Setting up your own Blogger account is simple.
- Log into your Wildern email account
- Open up a new tab (Control T) and type in www.blogger.com
- Because your Wildern email is set up through Gmail, Blogger automatically logs you in. All you have to do is enter your password (the same password as your email account)
- Add a display name and tick to accept the terms
- Add a Blog Title and Blog address (this is the name that you would like to appear in the URL bar)
- Choose a template (you can change this later)
- Your blog has been created! You can now create your first blog post! Give it a title, some body and click Publish Post to publish it to your blog
