8x1 Cover 11/07/13

LO: To develop our understanding of Game Maker software.

Starter:
Open Game Maker (Start - All Programs - ICT and Business).
Click yes to go in to Advanced Mode.
Open the tutorial folder (File Store\Read\ICT \Miss Cooke\Tutorial - Basic Platform Game)

Create a new folder in your Sites area called Game Maker.
Copy the resources folder in to that new Game Maker folder.

Main:
Open the Worksheets folder.
You can now work through the worksheets in order to create a basic platform game.
You MUST follow the tutorials in order.
You will need to load the resources in as you go. 

If you get stuck, ask the people around you.

#8x1 Cover Tues 4th June Adding a button in Flash

LO: To understand how to add a button in Flash so that we have a decision in our animation.

Starter: 
No matter where you are up to, create a new scene in your animation for your decision screen.
Watch this video on how to add a button in Flash.
There is a paper tutorial here.
TIP: You may want to try in a new blank project first.

Main: 
You need to have a go at creating your own decision screen. Remember there are 2 buttons - 1 to take you to each ending. This MUST be completed by the end of the lesson.

You may help each other.

If you complete this, you may continue with the other scenes in your story.

Plenary:
Comment on this blog if you managed to create 2 buttons that take you to each ending.

8x1 - Cover period 4

LO: To develop our skills in Flash by continuing to create our animated stories.

Starter: Find you story from last lesson. REMEMBER when you are starting a new scene, you actually need to add a new scene in Flash.

Task: Continue with your story. You must create the backgrounds as well as the characters. Try using the bone tool from last lesson to make your characters walk.

You may use the Internet to find tutorials for flash but you need headphones in if you are listening to a video.

Plenary/homework: Comment on the blog post/email me saying what you have learnt today and how far you have got.

8x1 Developing our Flash skills.

LO: To continue develop our Flash animation skills so that we feel more confident in creating our animated stories.

Starter: Recap last lesson for those who were away. What did we do? Show what you made.

Main:
You are going to continue developing your Flash using the tutorials on the Wildern ICT web page.
Scroll down to the tutorials and start with 1. Flash Basics in you were not here last week.
If you were, complete the button tutorial then try 2. animating with a symbol.
If you get stuck re-read the tutorial, then ask the people around you before you ask me for help.

I will be going through it with you!

8x1 Flash Basics

LO: To develop a basic understanding of Flash tools so we can start our animations

Starter:

Main:
You are going to have a go a some basic Flash using the tutorials on the Wildern ICT web page.
Scroll down to the tutorials and start with 1. Flash Basics.

If you get stuck re-read the tutorial, then ask the people around you before you ask me for help.

#8x1 Script Writing

LO: To understand what is included in a script and to develop our ability at writing them.

Starter:
Discuss with your partner the following question - what is included on a script?

Task:
You need to write a script for your animation story. You will need to write a script for each scene even if there is no speech.
You must include every we discussed in the starter.

EXT:
If you complete your script, you need to get peer feedback on it. Any changes made or suggested need to be in GREEN font.

Plenary:
Let's share our scripts!!

Homework:
How could we improve our stories?

#8x1 Planning and Proposal

Starter: Re-create the mind map of what makes a good animation in your Unit 4 document. 

Main: On a new page, write the title Story Ideas. You need to come up with 3 or 4 story ideas. They can be on a topic of your choosing but must:

• be aimed at primary school children
• it must have a decision in it for the user to make
• have 2 separate endings

Once you have written down at your story ideas, swap places with your partner and get them to give you feedback in green font. 2 stars and a wish.

SAVE YOUR WORK.

You can now pick your best story option and complete a proposal for it. Write the title Proposal on a new page and include details about the following:

• Who your target audience is ( age, gender, interests)
• What the theme/genre of your story is (action, adventure, mystery)
• Who the main characters are and a short description of each
• The outline of your story
• The 2 separate endings

SAVE YOUR WORK.

Log in to your school email. Select MORE from the top of the page and blogger. Create a blogger username so that you can comment on my blog.

Homework: 

Find an interesting animation online and post the link to it in a comment on this blog post with a short comment on what they are about and why it is interesting.

#8x1 Introduction to HTML and CSS

LO: To understand basic html code
LO: To be able to identify CSS coding.

Starter.
Copy the html text below in to Notepad.
Save the file in your sites folder.

Main
HTML
What does the code do?
What do the different tags mean?
Annotate the code showing what you have identified and what the different aspects do.

CSS
Link for CSS tutorial

Print screen before and after you make changes.
Annotate your print screens stating the change you intended to make and how you did it.

Print your annotated print screens.

Plenary
Try writing your own html code or css in notepad. How do we link the two?

#8X1 Cover 25/10/12

Pupils need to continue adding content to their websites. They must remember to edit either the template if they want something to appear on all pages or the web page if they only want it on one.

Pupils must continue to produce annotated print screens of:

• how to insert images
• how to insert text
• how to edit the html if they think they are able.

These must be step by step guides and detailed - why do you do it that way?

If they complete this, they can get feedback on their web pages which they must write in a Word document and must improve their website using this feedback. They MUST print screen before and after improvements.

    1. Go on to Prezi.com.
     2. Create a free account.
    3. Create a Prezi that explains:

• What E-Safety is
• What the dangers are online
• How to stay safe
• Some Top Tips (10)

You can include media such as video, images, etc 

   4.Add your Prezi to your blog by clicking the SHARE button.

   5.Copy the URL on to a new blog post.

   6. Make sure you write an introduction and give the Post a title.
