Year 9 Digging Deeper Day - Audio Reports

LO: To understand and develop our audio clip editing software skills.

Starter:
Within your groups you need to write a script for your audio report. 
What do we need to include on a script?


Remember: 
  • If you introduce your self, you must ONLY use first names.
  • You will need to include the BBC news audio clips at the start and end of the report.
  • You could have reporters in different locations.
Task:
Using the microphones, record your reports. You can make several recordings and use the best.

Importing audio, trimming, fading in and out:
Watch this tutorial to show you how to import your recording. 
You will need to import the BBC start and end credits too. These need to be copied from File Store - Read - BBC News School Report - Audio Files - AIFF on to the laptop.

When you have finished editing your audio report and are happy with it, check it with me.
You need to EXPORT it as an MP3 file then click the link  to upload it.
You will need me to enter the password for you.

#8y6 Fireworks Animation Lesson 1

LO: To understand how to create a basic  animation in Fireworks

Starter:
Go to Start - All Programs - Adobe Master Collection CS5 - Adobe Fireworks.

Task:
1. When Fireworks opens, click on Fireworks Document (PNG)

2. Next click OK when the box below appears.


 3. Press down the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON on the RECTANGLE BUTTON. Click on the Ellipse tool (U).






















4. Draw a circle on the page.




 5. Click on the word States on the right side of your screen and click on Duplicate State...



















6. Change the Number to 6 so we get 6 new states then click OK.



7. You should now have 7 states on the right side of you screen.


















8. Click on the black arrow tool.
















9. Click on state 2 and move the circle down a bit. Do the same in all of the states. The circle should be in a different place on every state.



10. Click on the play button at the bottom of the screen.


 Your circle should now move up and down on the screen.


Task: Now have a go at your own moving image. It could be a shape or a person.


#9m4 Storyboards

LO: To develop our story board and annotation skills

Starter:
Download the story board template in to your evidence folder if you have not done so already.

Task:
Complete your drawings for the following screens. You MUST have each of these screens.

  1. Main Menu screen
  2. Instruction Screen
  3. Back story screen
  4. Level 1
  5. Level 2 
  6. Level 3
  7. Winning Screen
  8. Losing Screen
Complete a storyboard for EACH of the above screens. Your drawings will be photographed during the lesson and put on the write drive. 
When your images are on the write drive, copy ALL of them in to your evidence folder.

EXT:
Get feedback on each of your storyboards in green font at the bottom of each page. 
You then need to link each storyboard Word document separately on to your index page.

#8x1 Script Writing

LO: To understand what is included in a script and to develop our ability at writing them.

Starter:
Discuss with your partner the following question - what is included on a script?

Task:
You need to write a script for your animation story. You will need to write a script for each scene even if there is no speech.
You must include every we discussed in the starter.

EXT:
If you complete your script, you need to get peer feedback on it. Any changes made or suggested need to be in GREEN font.

#9B #9A Cover Friday 15th March


LO: To develop our job description, person specification and CV writing skills.

Stater:
Find your documents or your book where you wrote down what goes on a job description, person specification and a CV.
Pick a celebrity or sports person whom you are familiar with.

Task: 
You are going to write a job advert, person specification and CV for the celebrity/sports person of your choosing.
You need to produce each one on a separate page and may use your exercise books to help you with the criteria if necessary.
You may wish to research the person online if possible.

EXT:
Create a new web page. Add the job advert and person specification and format them for a job advertising website.

If you complete all work set, create another CV for a different person.

Plenary: 
Ensure your work is saved correctly.

#9p4 Cover Friday 15th March

LO: To understand what a story board is and how to create them for our games.

Starter: 
What is a storyboard? Discuss with the person next to you. Find some examples on line.

Task: 
Fold a sheet of A4 paper in to 4 then in each quarter draw how each screen will look like for every level, menu, win, lose and title screen in your game.
You can colour these if they wish.
You will need at least 2 sheets of A4.

Ext:
Download the storyboard template and begin completing the details for each screen.
You will be photographing your drawings and inserting them next lesson.

Plenary:
Write a blog post explaining what a storyboard is and why they are used.

Packaging Nets and Montages

Starter: Save your completed Packaging net design log as a PDF and link to your Evidence page. Take a print screen of your final packaging net, paste in to Word and PDF then link to your Products page.
Add the image of your hand drawn net to your Evidence page. 

Photo Montages: Below are 2 examples of photo montages. Your packaging design has to be a photo montage made up of images.




Task: In your booklet start to design your photo montage. You could fill the box with images then your net will be placed on top and cut out.

REMEMBER -  You must use copyright free images or your own original images. All images used from a website must be put in your elements table.

Plenary: Get feedback from the person next to you. 2 stars and 1 wish.

Year 10 Packaging Design logs


Today's task: Complete your final packaging net and your packaging design log.

Make sure you have included:
  • the scale
  • the units
  • the measurements
  • a key for the fold and cut lines
When describing the tools in your design log, show how you:
  • drew the shapes
  • showed cut and fold lines
  • added the text labels
When this is complete check it with me then PDF both and link the final net to your Products page and the design log to your Evidence page.

EXT: Improve your website formatting adding any additional detail where necessary.

#8x1 Planning and Proposal

Starter: Re-create the mind map of what makes a good animation in your Unit 4 document. 

Main: On a new page, write the title Story Ideas. You need to come up with 3 or 4 story ideas. They can be on a topic of your choosing but must:

  • be aimed at primary school children
  • it must have a decision in it for the user to make
  • have 2 separate endings
Once you have written down at your story ideas, swap places with your partner and get them to give you feedback in green font. 2 stars and a wish.

SAVE YOUR WORK.

You can now pick your best story option and complete a proposal for it. Write the title Proposal on a new page and include details about the following:
  • Who your target audience is ( age, gender, interests)
  • What the theme/genre of your story is (action, adventure, mystery)
  • Who the main characters are and a short description of each
  • The outline of your story
  • The 2 separate endings
SAVE YOUR WORK.

Plenary: Some story ideas to be read out.
Log in to your school email. Select MORE from the top of the page and blogger. Create a blogger username so that you can comment on my blog.

Homework: 
Find an interesting animation online and post the link to it in a comment on this blog post with a short comment on what they are about and why it is interesting.
