LO: To develop our marketing skills and refresh our knowledge of the 4Ps

Starter: Read through the tasks below and continue from where you left off on Friday. Make sure you add as much detail as you can for each section.

Task 1: 

Create a marketing plan for a new type of shoe - the AIR trainer.

Your plan MUST include details on:

• Place 
• Price
• Product
• Promotion
• And a description of your customer

*TIP - Think about who your competitors are as well as where and how they sell their products. Make sure you write this in your plan. 

*TIP - Use facts and figures where possible.

Task 2: 

Create sketches of your AIR trainer and draw a storyboard for an advertisement. On the storyboard, make sure it is clear what is happening in the scene, what characters are present, how long each scene is.

Task 3:

Evaluate your AIR trainer advert. You should write at least 150 words.

EXT:

Compare your AIR trainer product  to other existing trainers. How are they similar/different? You should write at least 150 words.

9B Business Cover Periods 4 & 5

Starter:
Pupils need to write in a Word doc the difference between the following types of questions and their answers:

• Identify
• Describe
• Analyse
• Evaluate

Task 1:

Continue working on TASK 3 of the assessment. Use the D1 hints to help you and the J Sainsbury's website.

#9B #9A Cover Friday 15th March

LO: To develop our job description, person specification and CV writing skills.

Stater:

Find your documents or your book where you wrote down what goes on a job description, person specification and a CV.

Pick a celebrity or sports person whom you are familiar with.

Task: 

You are going to write a job advert, person specification and CV for the celebrity/sports person of your choosing.

You need to produce each one on a separate page and may use your exercise books to help you with the criteria if necessary.

You may wish to research the person online if possible.

EXT:

Create a new web page. Add the job advert and person specification and format them for a job advertising website.

If you complete all work set, create another CV for a different person.

Plenary: 

Ensure your work is saved correctly.

4Ps of Marketing

Here are the question sheets for your presentations.

#9B Cover 26/10/12 #9A

Pupils need to create a fact file in the same format as before for 3 types of ownership. 

They must include:

• A definition of the type of ownership
• State who has control in the business
• State who can have shares in the business
• Give advantages and disadvantages of each
• Give logo examples of each.

Pupils can peer check each other's work when they think they have finished. 

If pupils complete all of this, they can write a post on their ICT blogs explaining what they have done in Business so far this year and can evaluate how successful they have been.

Hand in your homework.

LO: To investigate how the environment can affect businesses.

Starter: Pupils need to look at the links on External factors affecting business on the Year 9 Business page.
They need to read through the BBC articles describing the fallout caused by the Icelandic volcanic eruption.

In pairs, they need to discuss and consider how the following types of businesses were affected (positively or negatively):

• Transport - Air/Rail/Road
• Supermarkets
• Postal/Delivery services
• Holiday companies
• Credit Card
• Insurance

Main: Pupils need to research facts and figures that they can use to produce a Detailed report on how the eruption affected businesses. They can use the sources on the Year 9 page but must also find their own.

Pupils MUST record their sources. Create a table with 2 columns: Information used and Source. The web address of the information goes in the Source column, a short description of the information found goes in the other.

Pupils will be writing the report next lesson in exam conditions. All research should be collected by the end of this lesson so that they have the full hour to write.

Plenary: Pupils can share sources and research with each other. 

Pupils can continue research at home.

E-Safety Prezi

    1. Go on to Prezi.com.
     2. Create a free account.
    3. Create a Prezi that explains:

• What E-Safety is
• What the dangers are online
• How to stay safe
• Some Top Tips (10)

You can include media such as video, images, etc 

   4.Add your Prezi to your blog by clicking the SHARE button.

   5.Copy the URL on to a new blog post.

   6. Make sure you write an introduction and give the Post a title.
